Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the permanent signing of Sávio from Manchester City. City separately confirmed his departure after 84 appearances and seven goals across two seasons.
Spurs also say the 22-year-old is available for Wednesday's Carabao Cup tie against Charlton Athletic. Available does not mean selected: the official lineup remains the only confirmation of a debut.
The immediate attraction is one-versus-one threat. Sávio can operate from either side, carry the ball at defenders and create an advantage without Tottenham first needing a long passing sequence. The wider question is how quickly those actions connect with the team's pressing and defensive spacing.
A cup tie offers a possible first look, but one appearance cannot settle the transfer. Watch his starting position, which foot he receives on and whether Tottenham isolate him against a full-back.
